The Glazert Country House Hotel is a family-owned hotel in Lennoxtown, at the foot of the Campsie Hills and about twenty minutes' drive from Glasgow. It sits in mature gardens bordering the River Glazert, and it has been hosting weddings for decades, for anything from a small family gathering to a more formal day for up to 120 guests. I married a couple here on a Saturday afternoon in July 2025.
The room
The room I stood in was long and bright, with white panelled walls, a tartan carpet, two chandeliers and a red carpet running straight down the middle to the signing table. The hotel lays that red carpet as part of its wedding packages, and it does a lot of work: it tells everybody where the aisle is and gives the walk in a proper sense of occasion. The hotel's brochure offers the MacIntosh Suite, its largest function room, for ceremonies, and puts it at up to 115 for the wedding meal.
I've married one couple here, in one room. I haven't used the smaller spaces: the Hamilton Suite, which the hotel says suits 15 to 50, or Mitchell's restaurant, which seats up to 35 and looks out over the gardens. If your wedding is on the small side, ask to see both before you decide.
What worked on the day
The couple had a live singer for the entrance, a sand ceremony with family joining in, and a handfasting. Every one of those happens at the front, so talk to the hotel early about where the signing table sits and whether there's space for a second small table for sand, a quaich or candles. Put your singer where they can see the door, so they know exactly when to start.
The hotel also provides a master of ceremonies to guide guests from one stage of the day to the next. That's a real help, but agree with them where my part ends and theirs begins: who invites guests forward for photos after the signing, and who calls everyone through for the meal.
Outside, and after
The packages include exclusive use of the front gardens for photographs, and the gardens have a pond and a waterfall that the hotel rightly points you towards. There's a heated patio area with gazebos for drinks, which is worth having on a Scottish July afternoon as much as in October. Indoors, the house has kept some of its original features through its refurbishments, including a run of arches and the original staircase, so there are corners for pictures if the weather turns. Parking is plentiful and on site, and the John Muir Way runs right alongside the hotel if you fancy a wander the morning after.
