Glasgow · Loch Lomond · The West

Your celebrant, from the bonnie banks to the city.

I stay in Kelvinbridge, in Glasgow's West End, with Loch Lomond barely half an hour up the road — so I split my working life between the city's best rooms and the bonnie banks, and I'm never far from either. As a Humanist Society Scotland celebrant, I can legally marry you at any of them — lochside, rooftop, back garden or ballroom.

Marrying by the loch

Loch Lomond weddings have a rhythm of their own — the light changes by the hour, the water does half your decorating for you, and there's always a hill to sneak off to for photos. Being just up the road means no travel stress, easy planning meetings in person, and a celebrant who knows exactly when the sun drops behind the Luss hills. A lochside handfasting as the water laps behind you takes some beating. Marrying at The Cruin, right on the shore, or at Ross Priory — the hidden Gothic gem where I had my own wedding in 2012? Those pages are for you.

And in Glasgow

Glasgow itself gets its own page now, properly — why I love marrying couples in this city, the neighbourhoods, and the venues I know inside out. Read it here. Marrying on the coast instead? I'm an Ayrshire boy too. Further afield? I travel anywhere in Scotland — including the islands.

Venues I know inside out

Some venues I've married couples at so often I know where the light falls at 3pm: Òran Mór under Alasdair Gray's painted ceiling, Citation in the old Merchant City courtroom, The Exchange on Royal Exchange Square, Seamill Hydro down the coast with Arran on the horizon, The Cruin on Loch Lomond's shore, Ross Priory — where I got married myself, Ardoch — the Gartocharn estate managed by my own cousin, and Mar Hall, the Gothic grande dame by the Clyde. Marrying somewhere else? Even better — I love a new room.
